Hi. I’m so sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place. I ave tried to read through the Newbies thread but am struggling to follow some of it.
I received a PCN in Feb 2020 from Smart Parking. I paid for 2 hours but when I realised my meeting was going to take longer I returned to the car park and put extra money in the machine.
I was sent a PCN which I appealed. I was informed that they could not interrogate the machine to see extra payment related to my reg number and could only rely on the time in time out footage.
I refused to pay and after several letters from smart parking was subsequently sent a letter from a debt collector with increased cost of £170 (DCS I think - I have the letters somewhere)
I did phone them (it was lockdown and I was in quite a stressful personal situation so I panicked) I cried down the phone to the woman I spoke to told her that I had actually paid for my parking but she said there was nothing she could do I owed £170.
I then came on here and followed some of the advice. I received a letter before claim which I responded to using the template on the newbie thread - never heard anything more.

Fast forward to 2025 and I have received letters from ZZPS saying I owe £170 with this having been now passed to GCTT Certified Enforcement Agency (interestingly owned by ZZPS) with the letter warning me before further recovery proceedings.
I don’t know what to do now - will I get another letter before proceedings? My concern is that I have in my initial appeal admitted liability in that they know I was the driver. Does this change things? It’s all very stressful- I don’t want a CCJ. Should I just pay it?
I would so appreciate any advice.

Do absolutely nothing until you get a court claim, which this isn't.
Dont ring them. Don't write to them. Don't engage with them. Admit nothing else
CCJs are removed from your record if paid within 28 days by the way, they aren't a death sentence.

As above, ignore ZZPS and GCTT etc
Come back to this thread if or when you receive another Letter of Claim, or if you receive an N1SDT court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL
We can help you through this matter, so stop worrying , you paid in 2 goes, for the time on site!
With our help there wont be a CCJ , none of us, or you, want a CCJ, so we will give you the correct information and advice such that it does not happen. You did the right thing by posting here, so please accept the advice

You had a speculative invoice from a parking company that makes money out of threats when people give in.The so call debt collectors do the same, neither I am sorry to say have any compassion or interest in you only money. You did nothing wrong, they want people in this situation it's why they exist, the fact that you admitted you were the driver means you can explain to a judge if it comes to that, how you paid to extend your stay.It is not your fault that their system cannot handle additional payments and link it to their ANPR system.Basically ANPR clocks your time in and time out, the pay machine logs a payment against that VRN, if the vehicle goes over time it flags an exception against it, the fact that you paid again isn't added to the first payment, of course it could be but that won't make the scammers any money!Where is this, and what type of car park, shopping centre, stand alone etc.?Have you complained to the landowner yet, there is still time to show how their so called car park managers are hounding you unnecessarily? But don't worry it isn't a fine and they are not an authority, they are just a two bit company that have found an easy way to con people with threats.5
