Nectar points stolen in spite of locking it

AMEX, won't be bothered. As it is not directly affecting them.flaneurs_lobster said:They have a big player in Amex as a partner (their Nectar Credit Card). Rather surprising that a global finance company isn't applying a little more pressure on Nectar to get this fixed. They won't be happy to have their upmarket brand associated with points theft using bananas.
What is more worrying is locking points is not doing what it should. Unless the fraudsters are setting a app up & unlocking to use points & then locking again 🤷♀️
Stopped getting a receipt for my shopping there now. As they only ever went in the bin. If I buy anything that needs a receipt to be kept. Then I buy that separately.
Usually there is a condition that you need to shop at least once in that store before you redeem from the store.
Is this new, as last year used points at a store never been to with no problems.

It was there before. It happened to me once as I was redeeming from a store 5 miles from my house but not my usual Sainsburys. It was during the Double Up event.born_again said:Usually there is a condition that you need to shop at least once in that store before you redeem from the store.

You are very fortunate to have the points restored. A couple of years ago I had £100 points stolen from my card. Despite phone calls and reassurances that it would sorted be nothing was ever done. After several months I had to close the account myself and reopen a completely new one so I could start again. It was a disappointing experience. Apart from making the phone calls I never received anything in terms of paperwork or email support.0

I just had £55 worth of points stolen. Nectar have cancelled my old card and are issuing me a new card and will add the points to the new card.
I was unaware of the problem (missed the bit about locking points back in February). As others mentioned, in future I shall make sure to spend points before they build up too much.0 -
Just had £32.50 taken, 9 points shy of my balance. I always keep receipts but I do scan them into the Clear app. So that would make the exact balance known....Nectar helpline issued new numbers and restored points within minutes.I did have £400 but spent them a few weeks back. And then forgot to relock my card.0

I received two emails from Nectar yesterday at 15:33 and 15:37, thanking me for spending 500 and 12,000 points respectively at Sainsburys in Ripley, Derbyshire. At which point I was sitting in the stand enjoying a non-league football match 150 miles away in the heart of Essex. Can't even remember when I last used the card.
Spoke with a polite and helpful Nectar agent today, who immediately reinstated my points on to my account, changed the account details and arranged for a new physical card to be issued. Equally politely he advised that sadly he wasn't able to accede to my request that a few extra points be added as compensation for the inconvenience.

Noticed today after filling up at Esso the Nectar points balance is no longer showing on the receipt, just points earned in the transaction. Another little security step.1

New security measure on use in Sainsbury's, scanning barcodes to spend no longer an option. From 27 October you will need to use the QR code in the Nectar app to collect and spend points at Sainsbury’s.
What you need to do:
• You’ll need to update your app to the latest version to access the QR Code to collect and spend your Nectar points. You will find the QR code in the home screen of the app.
• If you are using your phone’s wallet to collect and spend points you can now add the QR code to your wallet from the Nectar app.
• You will no longer be able to spend your Nectar points with the barcode in the Nectar app when shopping at Sainsbury’s.
Plastic cards
To spend points with a plastic card, you will need to swipe the black magnetic strip down the side of the chip and PIN machine at Sainsbury’s stores. You can still collect as normal when using the barcode on your plastic card.
Collecting and Spending on Petrol
In certain places you will still need to use your barcode which can be accessed in the Nectar app.
Places you need to scan the barcode:
• when collecting Nectar points at Pay at Pump at a Sainsbury’s petrol station.
• when collecting and spending Nectar points at an Esso petrol station.
To access the barcode: tap on your card on the home screen once you have updated the app. From there - swipe left to see the barcode.
For Android users
If you use Google Wallet, your Nectar app will not automatically update the card in your Google Wallet. You will receive a notification from Google asking you to update this yourself.
If you miss the notification, you can always add the new card tapping ‘add to wallet’ from the home screen of your Nectar App.

Thanks,
The Nectar TeamHopefully the QR codes will not be as easily replicated as the old bar codes. Both my Android app and Wallet have been automatically updated - I checked Wallet and the QR code was already there. It looks like the bar code is only in the app and not in Wallet.
