It’s been a hard month. My husband and I hit a financial hurdle (which we sorted) on top of busy months in terms of events etc. I feel exhausted. It’s set me back in terms of getting to the finish line but I am keeping on. I made a couple of impulsive applications for various things but thankfully, was able to contact the companies to reverse the applications before I did any damage and I have asked them to make me as do not lend. They aren’t place I envisage lending from in the longer term so I’m not too bothered. I am thinking about locking my credit file but not sure if this is viewed negatively by lenders and ultimately doesn’t help me gain control. It’s been hard but I’m proud of myself for reversing the applications before I did anything. I never would have managed that previously. It’s made me more determined I think. And I am talking about it all in therapy so hopefully that will help

I found it really difficult to save for things and if I could see the money in my account, then it was factored in to my "budget". I opened a current account but didn't have internet or phone banking with that bank so couldn't easily access the info. I also refused to remember the pin so I had to physically go in to a branch if I needed to get the money. It worked well as an emergency fund before I rewired my brain.

    That’s quite a good idea.

Can I ask how you eventually rewired your brain?

Since I updated earlier this week, I have found an app that you can create block lists of websites and apps. I have created various lists - some permenantly blocked and some for short periods of time to resist over spending. Working quite well so far x
