A big "shout out" to all those who have taken the time to answer the multitude of questions posted here.
I've been reading the various comments and explanations - they have helped me understand and DIY Probate (admittedly not a complicated will/estate), and also plan what my wife and I ought to ask for when getting our own wills drawn up.
6th June - Proof of Delivery to Harlow office
11th June - Email from Probate office confirming receipt
17th June - Email from Probate office advising Grant approved
19th June - Hard-copy Grant and copies received by post

I totally agree with you to. I saved over £1k by doing probate myself with advice from here, and it was so easy.0

I agree - solicitors quoted between £25 and £35k (+VAT) to deal with our late mum's estate!! Got confirmation myself (Scotland) so saved me and my siblings quite the sum of money. So yes, many thanks to contributors.1
