HSBC Global Money Account - problems

I have had 2 emails from HSBC notifying me of problems with receiving currency payments into the above account, however we are currently in the EU and I have been unable to withdraw cash from my Global Account although First Direct worked fine.  We also used this card several days ago to "pay at pump" for fuel and are yet to receive a refund of the €200 pre-authorisation taken.

 I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone planning to use this card whilst overseas; do make sure you have a back-up card (we do and it's not a problem).

I found it strangely works most reliably via Google Pay rather than the actual card.
