Hi all

I cant see a similiar scenario in the forums.

Jan 2nd 2024 - BG billed me - This is the last bill i've received, until June 11th 2025 (17month odd).

Jun 11th 2025, they sent me a bill covering 17ish months for Circa £6000 - I pay by monthly DD, so my account was in credit covering this amount.

I have challenged them using Ofgems rules, they've referred me to the Energy ombudsman.

Isnt this a classic Back Billing issue?

Thanks,

That is not back-billing as they are using money you already gave them to pay your bill with.
If they needed more than you had already paid then you might have a case, but not if they are just using what you've already given them with the DD.

So if i had of popped that £6k in a bank account and not paid it direct BG, to store in their account, i would have a back billing case.

    Seems fair!

?£6000 plus 18 lots of  DD's sounds like a big sum -   are you a very, very big user. ?

Were both the Lan 2 2024 and the June 11 July 2025 based on actual rather than estimated readings ?

The logic is that the back-billing rules are there to prevent bill-shock from an unexpected bill, but if you are happy making DD payments then there is no shock involved.
During all that time did you ever ask BG to send you a bill? It may be possible to get a small customer service failure payment out of an Ombudsman complaint if you reminded BG and they still failed to provide one...

@antgeee  Putting aside the back billing - are you satisfied that the £6000 is correct ?

Could you give us some meter readings please and include the letters A C E S or our read/your read
