This is for a friend who paid for the parking and displayed their tickets but lo and behold they got the letter from Parkingeye saying they didn't.

I'm unsure as to where this original letter is as I have asked them to produce it but they have yet to do so and I am unsure they have retained it.

They appealed and that got rejected and was directed to appeal via Popla but missed the deadline of 28 days from issue of the PCN on the 2/4 (so the 30th).

As they have photographs of the tickets receipts I'm not worried but they sent a letter sub-titled "letter before county claim court".

Should they just keep ignoring letters untill the court claim and then proceed with the defense?

Apologies for the lack of details but this is largely as much as I was able to deduce from the letters they have provided me with - which are : Parkingeye's rejection to the appeal on the grounds of insufficient funds being made and letters prompting for a payment

No, they respond using the LoC response template to the letter writer

Then await an N1SDT court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL

Hi all,

I hope you are well. I have now received a claim form issued on the 6th of July regarding the above. I confirm that I send an email to the parking eye (with no response) but I cannot recall if i did log anything on MCOL as advised above (my apologies). I suspect I did not as I would surely recall doing so. Is there a way to check? I suppose it does not matter as I never did fill the N1SDT form. I hope this isn't too much of an issue and I can proceed with just appeal via the acknowledgment of service route. I must confess I'm more relieved this way thanks to the wonderful help and resources from my previous case.

I'd appreciate any advice on the matter.

You seem muddled. You aren't appealing.

Just follow the 8 steps in the Template Defence thread. Easy as pie.

And don't get muddled with who defends the claim. The AOS/defence to be submitted on MCOL has to be in the name of the person named on the Claim form.

In your 1st post said your friend got the pcn and appealed, post above says you received the Claim form.

With an issue date of 06/07/26 and providing you complete(d) the AoS before or on 25/07/26 your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 10/08/26

3. A valid parking ticket was purchased. An email was sent to the ParkingEye Litigation Team with the receipt for the ticket but no response was received. Due to considerable time passing since the event it cannot be recalled if I was the driver at the time.

Is this good enough for the defence? I can't confirm or deny the ticket being valid for the period as I'm unsure of how long the ticket lasted for and they haven't mentioned a time.

You would need to add that into the standard defence template. What will you put at the end of paragraph #2?

The Defendant has little knowledge of events, save as set out below and to admit that they were the registered keeper. Due to the considerable length of time that has passed since the parking event, the defendant has little or no recollection as to who might have been driving that day.

Then you could add your paragrpah #3 in without the last sentence. Defences are written in the third person so "the defendant" not "I"

Yes I planned to add this to the template. I will adjust Paragraph 2 and remove it from my Paragraph 3 thank you.
