We are out of contract for broadband. [ OGI ] 19th June. The company has an offer for new customers, not available for existing customers. £30 :00 per month for 1 TB. Cheapest we can have with SAME company is £34, smaller package.
Can we end contract and join again, as a new customer to enable us to have this package or should they offer it to all customers.

Kind regards

Helen

I believe this varies by company - thinking about how the switching process typically works I suspect it's unlikely unless you were happy to go without broadband for a short while.

Out of interest, 1 Tbps is an insanely high broadband speed. Do you run a Google data centre or do you perhaps mean 1Gbps?

I understand that it is high,  it works out cheaper, than the package they have offered currently.

Can be done, you say "we" so it's a multi-person household?
    You cancel.
Your internet service stops after the notice period.
The router and any other kit required is returned.
Your co-habitee applies for a new contract.
Assuming they are accepted after the credit checks then sometime later your internet service starts. Beware of any reconnection charges.

Or suck up the £4/mth extra to renew.
    Or find another supplier.

But when you compare to other suppliers?

I feel like high just doesn't do it justice.

Most 2 person households would function just fine with a 30mb fibre plan. If they had a 4k TV in the living room (and signed up to services that allow them to watch in 4k) maybe they might need a 60mb connection.

If a household is a heavy internet household (e.g. kids with phones, smart cameras, multiple tv's) then a 150mb full fibre plan might be best.

Your plan (assuming you mean 1Gbps) is nearly 7x that. I can't even imagine how it would be possible to use that much data in a house, even if you had 4k TV's in every room of the house streaming 24/7, 4k cameras in every room, etc I don't think you'd get close. I guess it's useful if you're regularly downloading large files but that's about it.

For 99% of people it would be massive overkill. I guess I'm passionate on this point because my sister has been complaining to me about her partner that likes to play computer games had been insisting that they need an eye-wateringly flagship top of the range package to play world of warcraft. I think people confuse latency with speed.

If you are a typical household, I'd consider checking a 60 or 150mb package from another supplier and see if it's cheaper. I understand though that people tend to prefer to stick with what they know (inertia), which if the case, as above you could possibly enroll as a new customer but as I said above, you'd possibly be without internet for a short while (possibly a few weeks).

Are you confusing storage with speed?

1TB has nothing to do with speed.

OGI's fastest speed appearts to be what they call 1Gig roughly 900mbs.
