Gas - No supplier

Hi,

We moved into our property on 10th November 2007. Have received an electricity bill, but no Gas bill. Spoke to the electricity supplier, they do not supply the gas. Have rang Transco today, and they have checked the national register and cannot tell me who supplies my gas or give me a MPRN no. I did ask my supplier from our previous address to take over the gas, they are waiting for a MRPN number that apparently would be shown on a previous gas bill. As i have no previous bill i cannot supply it, so this transfer is on hold.

My question what do i do? Leave it, then get landed with a huge bill in 1, 2, 3,4...... years or has anyone else been in this position and can offer any advice.

Many thanks
Claire

I would set aside an estimation of what your bill would be each month and wait for them to catch up with you. It shouldn't take more than a few months before it gets corrected.

I moved out of my old flat in September, but only realised yesterday that I was still paying the monthly water rates... so I called the company and they're sending me a refund cheque. At the same time, they'll contact the new owner and ask for the last 4 months' payments.

Unless something seriously weird is going on, the previous occupier of your house will do the same. And you should get bills through the door at some point anyway - even if they have the previous occupier's name on the front, they'll still go to your address and you can return the (unopened) envelope to inform them of the change of occupant.

  • Try contacting your local Gas Supplier for the MPRN - you can look up their details here....

It may be that you have an independent gas transporter, in which case try energylinx as they have a saerch request form you can use.

    Good luck
