Considering AHSP or Solar Panels

We have had a surveyor come over from Aira and they were really great. They said the noise wouldn't be an issue and proposed a location in the back garden under a window.
The quote is for £8,454 with the grant applied. It includes:-
6kw outdoor unit
40l buffer tank
200l water cylinder
8 radiators - 1 large and 7 standard
thermostat, magnetic filter and heating circuit
technical survey
First year of maintenance free then £19.90 per month making it £238.80 per year and the warranty is for 15 years. It also has an app allowing us to control the system remotely. I imagine most systems do this?
The next step is a more technical survey to ensure the quote given is correct in regard to appropriate installation and tech requirements. Installation would take four days.
I thought I would share as we haven't got quotes from any others as yet but we were impressed with this so far.
They are also getting a solar provider to give us a quote - All Seasons Energy.0 -
That's the sort of ballpark id expect, given that you've not currently got a wet central heating system at all so it's entirely new.You might want to get an online quote from Octopus:They're usually cheap but their equipment is usually towards the basic end of the scale.N. 2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.Ofgem cap table, Ofgem cap explainer. Economy 7 cap explainer. Gas vs E7 vs peak elec heating costs, Best kettle!1 -
We have been offered some more discount making the Aira deal quite attractive. We are in the process of waiting for funds and then booking a technical survey.
My question is in the middle of a heatwave such as RIGHT NOW we will open windows, particularly at night to keep cooler air flowing through. Is this going to be detrimental to using an ASHP as they work on constant flow and the assumption windows aren't open for 'prolonged periods' or are systems updated to allow this without causing concern?
Also I looked into air to air but hard to find suppliers that have been going a while and are reputable it seems to be buying units and installation only. However I could looking in the wrong way...0 -

And I suspect you wouldn't be doing that at the same time as opening all the windows.(If you had a heat pump that could cool, you wouldn't want to open the windows when using it to cool either.)N. I was aware of the cooling systems but we are not interested in this.
It all feels very 'grown up' when looking to spend a lot of money on things like this that I am trying to avoid falling into any pit holes.

There's far too much mystique surrounding ASHPs.
- If you have an oil boiler then it runs either full on of off (typically).
- If you have a gas boiler it will (typically) reduce its output if the return water temperature gets too high. An ASHP will do something very similar, although the control is usually based on maintaining an output water temperature at or below a pre-set limit.
- A sophisticated gas boiler will vary its output to maintain a target water temperature and vary that target water temperature according to the outside temperature. An ASHP can do this too and it's usually the most economical way of running one.
