Changing an old style L1 L2 L3 light switch

Hi , l am changing and old style L1 L2 L3 double light socket to a new BG Nexus L21 L22 light switch and trying to confirm where all brown wires go into new one

    L21 L22 implies two gang switch with Com2 terminal (as well as Com1, L11, L12).
    For one gang
    L1 - Com (important)
    L2 - L1 
    L3 - L2

    For two gangs
    L1 - Com(i)
    L2 - L(i)1
    L3 - L(i)2
    i=1,2

    Isn't getting to the "I'm not sure where all the wires go" stage normally when an electrician is needed?

    This is the sort of thing that will be obvious when we see a photo.  Preferably a photo from before you took the wires off the old switch.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
