Yes the information to confirm previous work earnings is to confirm if benefit cap is not to be applied for a period.
So now you have completed this, ask in your journal if there has been an underpayment calculated related to benefit cap. And if so can they process the amount to your Bank ASAP.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -
Have a look at https://www.turn2us.org.uk/get-support/information-for-your-situation/benefit-cap/am-i-affected-by-the-benefit-cap
Am I in a grace period?
If you are claiming Universal Credit, the Benefit Cap will not be applied for a nine month grace period if:
- You (or your partner) earned at least £846 per month for each of the previous 12 month
I'm assuming UC are asking for your wage slips for May, June and July 2024 to see if the above applies. If it does, then the nine month grace period will kick in and you'll be exempt from the Benefit Cap.See also https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/benefits/dealing_with_the_benefit_cap which includes additional information

Ah ok, so because I earned more than £846 for those 3 months they asked for. It’s likely they will lift the cap and we will be paid in full?0

That is why they have asked you to confirm the earnings information.
Once you have completed the information using the to-do action, they won't normally ask you to provide wage slips. The comments I post are personal opinion.
