Not winning anything.

I used to win so many things, but it's been slow recently. You have to be in it to win it though. I just look at it as a nice hobby and watch a show in the background or something. After you get a win, motivation picks up for a while!2

Has anyone on here ever won any of the big cash prizes? Say more than £50k?0

I remember someone years ago winning a huge amount I think off a radio competition. It was exciting for everyone and they said they were paying off their mortgageWoodyWoody6 said:Has anyone on here ever won any of the big cash prizes? Say more than £50k?1 -
There have been a few from this forum who have won pretty big cash prizes in the past. Not sure about over 50k but I won just under £24,000 from a radio comp in 2019 and that was not exceptional compared to some of the other wins.3

All these radio competitions with bumper cash prizes, plus lottery wins, millionaire makers, scratchcard wins etc.
Yet I’ve never come across anyone who’s actually won a big prize.

Of course, the big money comps attract huge numbers of entries and thus are much more difficult to win. However, perseverance is the key, just keep entering as many times as you can and if the comping fairy smiles upon you then all that effort will be justified. In the meantime, to keep interest going whilst waiting for the big bucks, enter lots and lots of smaller comps as well; any unexpected win is a joy and encourages hope. However, never wait with expectation of winning something you really, really want, treat an entry as a wish wafting on the wind, send it and forget it. It is a numbers game, the more you enter the more likely you are to win at least something. Personally, I enter between 1500 and 2000 comps per month and am lucky if I win one prize per month, of whatever value. However, I await a repeat massive prize win, any minute now.WoodyWoody6 said:

Back when we used to be able to enter the ITV comps for free, there was an ITV winners club thread. There were a few big winners on that. Either winning large cash sums or cars.
Found it, I'm number 124

The chance of a "free" entry big radio win are now much much less than they were with say £25 and a couple of clicks getting 350 entries compared to making 350 phone calls.WoodyWoody6 said:

You are quite right, there will be a lot of folk quite willing to spend £25 in order to max out their entries in the hope of a big prize. Nonetheless, I've never really thought about the odds, assuming I only had "a chance in a million" anyway. So, having the time to enter 350 phone calls, I might as well just carry on and save myself £100 per month. (Your observation, however, explains a lot and I will laugh myself sick when I eventually DO win again!)mjm3346 said:
