Travelling on London Tube

I'm taking my daughter who is 11, to London for 2 days Friday and Saturday. I've only ever used the underground when she was free to travel, and we could use the larger turnstile together. I'm finding the TFL website a bit confusing. We're staying zone 1, but will need to travel into zone 3 on the Friday. Is it worth getting her an 11-15 Oyster card, I had planned for her to just tap in and out with a card, am I saving much with an Oyster card, I'm struggling to make sense of the charts on the website.
Many thanks

If you just give her a contactless card, she'll pay the adult rate,
so to get the child rate, you'll need to either get London day travel card for her for £16.60
Alternatively get an oyster card and then ask at a tube station to have the young person discount added - it may not be worth it though if this is a one off trip

Yes it is a one off trip, thank you that's helpful0

For a one off trip this is probably not worth it as an Oyster card will cost £7 which will probably exceed any savings.Emmia said:

The recommendation on the link is the travel card, and I did say it wasn't worth getting an oyster card for a one off tripmartindow said:
