1200 Euros in Cash?

Hi All
I may have dropped one here but i bought 1200 euros in currency from Tesco as the exchange rate was better than the rate offered by the Post Office, my plan was to go into a PO and load them on to my Post Office Travel card, i have just been told i cant do this without charges.
Is there anyway of getting this 1200 euros on a spending card without losing the point of buying them at a better rate in the first place !
