A bit of help - Cuba Visa

A friend who is travelling to Cuba at the end of June went online and purchased a Cuban visa from what appears to be a Google ad (www.cuba-evisits.org/). He got charged around £80 and has not received anything. When he asked me to help, I looked into it and found that the website he booked with was from a Spanish company (at least, that's what it appears to be), and there is no telephone number to contact them. He contacted his bank, and he was told that he must get in touch with the Spanish company, as there is still time for him to receive this electronic visa. The issue is that he is travelling at the end of the month. I went online and found a service in the UK, called them to check, and they received the E-visa the same day (www.cubavisa.uk). The question here is, how long do you need to wait before claiming from your card provider if a service like this is not delivered on time? Send a complaint to Google, but no response. How can Google allow ads of this nature? My friend is 70 years old, and he didn't realise it was an ad, but it's still sad, as it could happen to anyone. Thank you for any information regarding the card refund.

The one you found is also a middleman but one with more standing than the prior one.

They should contact their bank to dispute the charges on the grounds that the services haven't been received. Depending on if its Visa or Mastercard will define how late they have to be before the chargeback can be raised.

Loads of these type of adds on any type of paid for service.

They would only be able to claim the funds back they day after they were due to travel.

    So maybe best to contact

& see if they can provide any info on the visa.

Re future travel, he may want to start by looking at the gov.uk foreign travel advicesite which in the case of Cuba gives the direct link to get the visa without going through any third parties.

Hope he's not planning to visit the USA anytime soon.

For most countries that would be good advice. In the case of Cuba, getting a "tourist card" always used to be easier and cheaper when using an intermediary rather than the embassy.

(The "tourist card" has just been phased out and replaced by an e-visa.)
