Pairing a Virgin remote with TV

I have a Virgin V6 remote, and I can't use it to control the volume/mute/on-off functions on my new LG TV. I have followed the Virgin  steps to pair the remote with the TV but none of the 34 codes offered work during the laid down pairing process.

Anyone know how to resolve this and successfully pair my remote with the TV.

I don't seem to be able to call a real live person to speak to about this. The Virgin help number just sends me a link to the relevant Virgin section covering this (which I have followed without resolution) and then very hepfully says Goodbye without being able to speak to somekne.

I always found that posting a query on the Virgin Media Community Forum was the best way to get an answer, either from a Virgin employee or from another member of the forum.

Any chance you could ask the TV retailer?

Difficult if it's Argos, now if you'd gone to Richer Sounds........

Any point in trying the other way around, controlling the VM box with the LG remote?

Might try the question on AVForum, they tend to have knowledgeable folk

Although this won’t make the V6 remote control the TV, enabling HDMI-CEC (called Simplink on LG TVs) allows the TV remote to control the V6 box instead. Many find this a better option.

I don't see how that would be a good step to take. I've currently got a V6 remote specifically made for the V6 box and with all the functions like My Shows, Guide, Home, Record etc clearly marked. And it does the job very well.  If I convert the LG remote, it's not custom made for controlling the V6 and I woud have to learn what button does what. I just want the V6 remote to pair with the Tv to be able to control simple things like the volume and on/off. It seems a much simpler step to take if someone has the knowledge.

Thanks. The retailer, Richer Sounds, said I should follow Virgin's steps on pairing, which I've done and it hasn't worked. I'll maybe try this AV Forums.
