Morning all.I missed yesterday due to a haircut early on and then having to go to school before lunch to pickDGS up for an inter-school athletic comp which didnt finish until 3.30. Still we got home before we normally would as DS2 managed to come halfway through & they went home together, so tea wasn't the late meal I thought it would be.We had chicken breasts with bbq sauce cooked in the Remoska which I've resurrected recently. I put various veg in too at the same time, mushrooms, peppers, bit of leek, brocolli. DH said it was goodWe are off to an outdoor music event tomorrow, DH is wondering if we could buy some cheap rain ponchos as the forecast is very mixed. Not sure where to look though as the shops in town are practically non-existent now.I think we are visiting our friends before school pick up later.Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all and thanks Derek for the start. We didn't get any rain yesterday after all although there was a fair amount of high cloud in the afternoon after which the sun came out again. Today should be sunny with a moderate breeze and highs of 25 deg, rain possible in the evening.
Yesterday I finally finished the cushion covers (happy days), now I need to start on the sofa seat pad. It may turn into two as there's enough fabric, one in use and a spare. I don't normally leave the sewing machine out on the dining table but this time I have because it's really heavy to keep moving it, there's enough room for me at mealtimes and there's only me to see it anyway! I've ditched a pair of not very good pinking shears that I think came in a box of sewing notions from the CS - no wonder they'd been donated! I noticed they were marked Foreign - my own that were made in Sheffield are much better quality.
Today it's the usual Friday admin stuff that shouldn't take too long; after that I'll change the bedding and get it in the WM, then a dust and vac of the bedroom. While I'm up there I'll have a sort out of summer tops as I'm sure I don't need them all. I did donate some earlier in the year but there's still more than I need. I forgot to mention I've treated myself to a new pair of sunglasses to replace the old ones that had scratched lenses. Tea tonight is a basa fillet, baby potatoes and green beans with a choc ice for afters.
@mehefin - Sounds like you had a busy and productive week and good to hear you've got new volunteers too.
@Chrisca - Happy wedding anniversary, enjoy your meal out.
@AA - I hope the rain holds off for the rest of your trip.
@Gers - I have a hydrangea that could do with a bit of attention too, the poor thing hasn't been pruned for the last two years but seems to be thriving on neglect.
Right, admin is calling. Get well soon wishes for our poorly brigade, enjoy your day and take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -

@Gers - I have a hydrangea that could do with a bit of attention too, the poor thing hasn't been pruned for the last two years but seems to be thriving on neglect. Two types One type of hydrangea,(see post from Taff below) both need chopping though I'll wait until after they have finished flowering. The north facing wall type has really thrived on that wall whilst the pink one loves the sun.8 -
Are you sure the pink one is a hydrangea? Looks more like a sambucus nigra to me...if it though, can I have the name please because the foliage is a lovely colour...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

No, was told it was black lace cap one but I have no real idea! Looking at what you wrote I have to agree that you're right - it's a black elder! ThanksIt'll still need a haircut.

@RedRuby1231 - Remember to go through "Your Replies" up in the left-hand corner for some of the things that you have told us about. It will give you the dates for things also.
@mehefin - We have meetings of Friends of the Library here for volunteers to get together and compare notes. Hope your plant sale goes well. The Library where we are is trying to make arrangements to move our little bookstore into a space 10 times as large so we can have all of our books out for sale all month. They would like us to host special programs also - art shows and coffee and pastry events from local merchants, plus special children's programs. We are looking forward to planning the layout of the room. The Library has helped us apply for a large grant from one of our local sports team's foundation. It would be wonderful if it came through.
Can any one possible say prayers for the US Saturday - there are supposed to be over 2000 demonstrations across the country. Thank you.10
