So clueless.
I have a Walkman mp3 player. Tiny, light battery lasts a very long time. 36hrs playtime.
I do wear it gardening or traveling but still have the wired earbuds that pull out for a pastime.
Listen to podcasts, radio, books and music.
Looked at Bluetooth earbuds from Argos which are £29 to 😵💫
Would the cheaper ones be as good?
And what am I looking for regards comfort and them staying in?
Was looking at this type

Are you sure the walkman has Bluetooth capability? Seems unlikely and without it I can't see how you could use Bluetooth earphones/headphones2

If you use when gardening I recommend something like this which clips to your shirt, as finding a dropped ear bud is not always easy.
Do check your player really does have Bluetooth!

Some of the cheaper earbuds are really uncomfortable, keep falling out and the batteries dont last ever so long on a charge
My wife has had several of inexpensive earbuds and they've all had problems. She's now got the noise cancelling version of these and she thinks they are amazing. Neat, very comfortable , excellent sound quality and no sticking out bits to get caught or knocked. They are virtually invisible and she reckons they are even ok to wear in bed and sleep with them.
The battery lasts her all day even when noise cancelling - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-WF-C510-Truly-Wireless-Earbuds-Blue/dp/B0DBLMLM81?th=1
I've not tried them myself as I wear hearing aids but I've tried her discards and they've been really uncomfortable.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Thanks for the tips.
The pop in ones Dave looked uncomfortable but obviously not. I don't know anyone who uses them.
Yes, Sony Walkman circa 2000 I think does have Bluetooth but don't remember anyone one using it at that time. No speakers and certainly not earbuds.
Young people who've seen it recently are taken with it for the small size and battery life compared to phones.
Good thing I asked because when I looked for a photo to post it seems the newer ones don't have it and I'd have purchased another expecting the same.

May well be that NC is an irrelevance to @twopenny of course.
Earbud fit and comfort are very individual (as are all headphones of course), I've got a couple of pairs that are fine for hours at a time but I'm not using them when active. My partner can't tolerate them for more than 30 minutes or so and always uses conventional over-ear phones by choice.
Not sure what OP is listening to on headphones but can say that the cheaper (say sub-£50) headphones tend to be bass-heavy and lack much "finesse" on listening - I guess reflecting the younger demographic who will be their target. Trouble is that it's pretty much impossible to try these things out before purchase.
OP's original suggestion gets the thumbs up here https://www.techradar.com/reviews/jlab-go-air-sport0 -
Separate earbuds would be maddening IMHO, falling out when you are gardening. I'd consider bluetooth with a battery in the neck band - Sony WI-C100 Wireless In-ear Headphones - Up to 25 hours of battery life - Water resistant -Built-in mic for phone calls - Voice Assistant compatible - Reliable Bluetooth® connection - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo0

I've used many of Soundcore's buds and headphones. They are excellent for noise cancelling and sound, their buds are very comfortable I find.

I have the soundcore A20i earbuds. One useful feature is, if you install the soundcore app on your smartphone, then one 'bud comes out of your ear for example when gardening you can 'call' the left or right 'bud and it emits an audible sound. I managed to flick one out when clearing undergrowth. It landed in the brash and was almost invisible but I found it fairly easily.1
