Does anyone have experience of using Octopus Intelligent Go (or similar energy tariff) with a direct connection to an EV using an older EV charger?
At the time of ordering my Skoda Enyaq the Octopus website said that either the Enyaq or my existing PodPoint Solo 3 charger (likely the latter) was not compatible with their Intelligent Go tariff.
As a result I ordered a new Hypervolt Home 3 charger through Octopus which is compatible.
The Octopus website has since updated to say that I can move to the Intelligent Go tariff using my current PodPoint Solo 3.

Is connecting directly with the EV itself as reliable as connecting via the charger or would I be better off continuing with the install and upgrading to a newer charger?

s long as either the car or charger are compatible with IOG it should work. I've not heard anyone say one or other interface is more reliable. I suppose the belt and braces of having a compatible charger as well is that you could charge non-compatible cars, say if you had a visitor with an EV.0

Connecting via the car is more reliable in some respects. The car will know it's state of charge and will be able to ask for the correct amount of charge automatically. We've got a smart charger with a dumb car on IOG and we need to tell the charger app how much charge to add manually.N. For reliability, avoid using the car integration unless you have a Tesla, none of the others could be considered reliable as the car manufacturers do not welcome the sharing of credentials in most cases and have little interest in working with Octopus to resolve any issues. The EVSE providers on the other hand have a vested interest in providing a reliable connection.2

Connection by your charger is better, as you are not just limited to charging one car.
Add in many car apps cause more problems than anything else, due to more layers of coding & each not always liking talking/working with each other.Life in the slow lane0 -
If you're connecting the car, how does Octopus know whether you're charging at home or whether you're somewhere else.0
