Cold water not working following water supply (mains) failure

Options

Last weekend, SE Water had an issue which resulted in a loss of mains water supply and we were without for around 6 hours.

Once it was fixed, all our taps and toilets were functioning again ....except for the cold water and the toilet cistern in the ensuite.

This room is upstairs, on the same level as our hot water tank with our main tank in the loft above. The tanks are at the rear of our house and the ensuite is at the front.

Is this likely to be a coincidence as I can't fathom out otherwise, or does anyone have any theories and/or advice?

Thanks

Would the en-suite normally have mains-pressure cold water or is it fed from the loft tank? Both configurations occur in the UK, mains pressure cold water being more common in newer houses (or ones with a recent refurb).

I don't think it's possible in mains pressure systems.

the mention a hot water tank as well as a tank in the loft so i dont think its a mains pressure system.

You can definitely have mains-pressure cold water together with open vented hot water.
    I've got that combination here.
Hence my first question; what sort of cold-warer system does the OP have?

Thanks for all responses so far. Yes, I'm sure the cold water is from the loft tank. The shower and hot tap in the same room work as normal, so while I'm not positive, it does make sense (to me anyway) :)

edit: the tap in the bathroom (same floor but directly below the loft tank) works as it did.

Why not contact SE Water and explain your problem.
They could possibly come out free of charge to sort your problem.

I sometimes get an airlock in my ensuite, to fix it I run the garden hose up the stairs and force the water up the cold tap.

If hot water is fine (although fed by the same tank in the loft), simply opening both valves of the mixer tap and blocking the outlet may work. Or interconnecting hot and cold taps if it's not a mixer.
