BT Ripped off my elderley parents, any comeback?

Your father has died. Not sure it will make any difference but contact the 'Bereaved / Death Service' for any utility you need dealings with. They 'may' be more amenable to circumstances etc.1

I don't think there is any use to complain as this is very normal for all businesses. For example the price of the VM broadband I am with is usually around £56 a month but I am paying £12 because I called up, cancelled the contract and suddenly had a text offering me a deal. The primary way these companies make money is for people to just be lazy and keep their package. If he has passed away I would just cancel the service altogether and move on. You should have thought of this when he was still alive. I still manage most things for my mother.0

I'm sorry to say this but I think you need to take your share of the blame, along with BT, for allowing this to happen. When my late mother was left on her own (in her mid 50's) I made sure she told me everything that she was doing financially, explaining to her that there are a lot of fraudsters out there trying to take her money. By and large it worked for the next 30 years, but she managed to get British Gas to replace her gas boiler at a cost of almost £5k without telling me.
But an elderly friend was in the same position as your parents, only with Sky, but it only took a few moments of concerned questioning to find out she was paying well over £100 per month for home phone charges and we were able to make the changes needed. I also halved her Sky TV bill, and sorted a much better energy deal out for her.
I would recommend anyone with elderly relatives to delve into their finances. Sometimes you may meet resistance, but perseverance pays off."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
OP, definitely complain. They may be a business out to make money, but they certainly don't like bad press, and ripping off elderly dying people isn't gonna look good if it does end up in the press. And they don't have to be like that anyway. I had a simple interaction with Vodaphone over something to do with my phone contract, the guy on the phone sorted it out, and whilst I was on he had a look at my usage and suggested a new plan which was 35% cheaper than what I was paying, and set it up even though I wasn't within the cancellation period. He could have just said sorry can't do that. Even Virgin Media were spot on when I had to sort out my dad's house when he died. What has happened to your dad is blatant profiteering in my book, and blaming him or you is absolutely bonkers. You are right, they should have picked it up - nobody pays hundreds in call charges these days unless there is something amiss, so an account manager should have reviewed it.1
