Hi everyone
hope someone can help iv just migrated to universal credit
I currently get council tax benefits will that now get stopped and I will have to reclaim or will it not be affected?

Now that you have migrated to UC then (unlike with the old benefits) the council have to do an income calculation to see how much Council Tax Reduction you are entitled to.If you had Housing Benefit then the council will already know that you have migrated to UC.
If you didn't have Housing Benefit then you should tell the council that you have migrated.Once they know that you have migrated then they will do the CTR calculation and send you a letter.Depending on your particular council you may find that you now have to pay a few quid of Council Tax.
Some people do, some people don't, it all depends on the council.0
