Is travel insurance cheaper through 'Confused'

I want to take out travel insurance for a trip to Ireland, for my wife and I.
Having looked on this site, I tried Admiral, which worked out pretty good.
I thought i would check 'Confused.com' and the Admiral price on that site was nearly half, for the same cover.
Do these 'third party' sites have better deals than going through a single company directly ?

Are the Admiral quotes like for like?
Sometimes the cheaper ones are the online only policy, potentially with a lower level of customer service. Or different cover levels. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I've bought it now, directly through Admiral .. the MSE15 code gave me a small discount too.
Getting insurance is critical and I don't want to forget .. so it's done now0 -

Personally I look into the policy documents of a handful of well-rated insurers and then get quotes from these companies individually. My annual travel insurance comes up for renewal in October. At that time I'll get quotes from InsureAndGo (my current insurer) and LV. And I'll pick one of the two. If prices don't look too good then I'll get a quote from AllClear too.
These insurance companies can provide comprehensive cover for me based on the activities I'll do on holiday and my pre-existing medical conditions.1 -

So in some cases it's simply cheaper to buy from an aggregator like confused.com and sometimes it's cheaper but you are also getting lower cover. For example a former client would charge less for Motor on confused.com but it didnt include Driving Other Cars or Legal Expenses and the default excess was £200 more and the personal possessions cover was reduced from £250 to £100. The LE you could choose to add back on and reduce the excess but you couldn't correct for the other changes.
From an insurer's perspective they get a customer for a fixed fee to the aggregator whereas they could spend thousands on TV adverts, PayPerClick on Google etc and not actually make a single sale.1
