Apologies but i have searched and searched and can't find this
I read a post last week that had a recipe for cornbeef hash which you could cook in the oven rather than sc or on the stove.
I would really like to make it this afternoon - if anyone can help.
Thanks in advance

Hi Miss Kitty Fantastico
Not the recipe you're thinking of but...
I make my corned beef hash in the following way...
I fry an onion in a oven proof casserole dish, then add some chopped savoy cabbage and a few flakes of chilli. When the cabbage has reduced in size a bit I toss in some cubes of corned beef and stir in some mashed potatoes (a good way of using up left over mash, or you could make a double quantity of mash and use the other half for the next night's dinner or freeze it). Then I just stir it all up and pat down the top so it's nice and smooth, and then bung the whole lot in the oven and cook until it's nice and brown (and a bit crispy) on top.
Actually, it probably shouldn't be called a hash, but that's what it's called in our householdDFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0 -
I slice the potatoes, onions & cornbeef and make layers of each in a cassorole dish, pour over the stock put the lid on and bung it in the oven at gas mark 4 for about 45mins/50mins or until the potatoe slices are soft.

Hiya....
My recipe isn't the one your looking for but thought I'd share anyway....
I'm not sure what you call it, but I slice cooked potatos, layer them in the bottom of the dish...Cover with sliced corned beef then put some cooked onions on top...then layer again...pour over some gravy and one final layer of sliced potatos.
Put in the oven until potatos have browned.
It's a recipe from DH's Nana....

thanks everyone for the quick replies
when ive sliced everything and bunged it in - how much liquid should i cover it by - should it just be to the top of the slices?
thanks again0 -
I love corned beef hash.:j
i do a really simple one.
roughly chop the potatoes up and par boil them.
chop up an onion and corned beef and put in casserole dish, put potatoes in.
i pour over some beef stock(i use knorr) to just cover it..
add two bay leaves, salt and pepper,a squirt of tomato sauce and some worcestershire sauce.
mix it up and wack it in the oven.
i sometimes add peas, carrots and butter beans.
my mum used to do it with a crust on top but i can't be botherd.
add lots of black pepper and worcestershire sauce at the table and mop up the sauce with some crusty bread. :beer:0 -

No idea about corned beef hash but this is Collops and Corned Beef(?), had to learn to make this as I don't think my OH would have moved in with me otherwise!
Layer sliced potatoes, corned beef and baked beans top up with gravy (made quite thick) and bung in the oven on fairly low for as long as possible (2 hours at least), serve in Giant Yorkshire Puddings.
Sounds gross but its completely heavenly and really cheap too!MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
