Have done the Riveria cruise, Lyon to Avignon on the Rhone. Highly enjoyable. All UK residents on board. Made some good friends on the trip. The fact that the boat sailed one way was a bonus.1 -
Having done the Mekong (Cambodia/Vietnam) with Emerald (Scenic's "little sister"), we booked Budapest-Bucharest on the Danube with them in 2023. Very satisfied with both trips. Two included excursions each day, plus local trips on foot or by bike. We had free drinks packages and onboard spend (for any additional excursions). Less than 100 on the boat in each case. Very relaxed and friendly. Flight inclusive price, but we could choose a generous reduction for making our own arrangements, as we wanted to combine the cruise with other travel. Wise advice about possible water level issues: we had no problem on the Danube in June. We had seen most of the sights on the Germany-Budapest section and so chose the lower part of the river which was much less touristy and more authentic. We were pleased we made that decision.
We would happily travel with Emerald again, but don't have experience with any other company to compare.0 -
Just to say book your cruise through cruise specialists rather than local TA.
Worth a phone around as a cruise specialist can give discount, and will certainly match booking direct with company. (Well that's true for sea cruises so I am betting river cruises have the same deals)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
