Pet Insurance Recommendations

Tesco Bank Pet Insurance are changing underwriters due to RSA pulling out of the market.
Existing renewal customers seem to get the same/similar level of cover with the new underwriter but new customers/policies get completely different cover.
Can anyone recommend a good pet insurance company (or even underwriter) based on past claims please? (apart from petplan)

Have you ever made a claim or the pets had any symptoms since taking out with Tesco?SaverRate said:Tesco Bank Pet Insurance are changing underwriters due to RSA pulling out of the market.

Problem with any medical insurance (animal or human) is you effectively become locked into the insurer once the pet had developed a condition else you will never get cover for that or "related" conditions.
Most insurers claim a similar percentage, as with all statistics it would be important to understand what they are defining as a "claim".Mark_d said:https://www.agriapet.co.uk/

Given the above, what is potentially more important is what happens to your premiums after you claim. PetPlan is expensive but its premiums dont rise after a claim. Many people buy on price, make a claim and then find at renewal the prices are vastly higher than what PetPlan had originally quoted but obviously by that time its too late to switch and you are stuck paying high premiums or being uninsured.1 -
These work out more expensive than PetPlan for my dog.Mark_d said:https://www.agriapet.co.uk/

PetPlan is just over a 100% increase on my current premium.
M&S Bank & John Lewis are still offering Pet insurance underwritten by RSA so may swap to them atleast it will then be another year underwritten by RSA0 -

I understand the risks and issues with pet insurance but we decided in our current position should something be required/go wrong greater than £3k plus we couldn't at the current time afford it so decided to take out pet insurance. We researched the underwriters at the time and RSA seemed to have good reviews and the price point was decent. We actually started off with M&S bank but switched over to Tesco Bank due to better cover levels and slightly lower price.

I will have to have a think0
