Microsoft 365 subscription or one off payment from Groupon?

My subscription for 365 has ended, new personal subscription from Amazon is £76.49. I only use it for Word and Excel, so it seems a lot of money.
I saw an offer on Groupon for Office 365 Pro Plus for £6, so I have bought that and have been sent a link. My query is, can I still keep all the spreadsheets from previous years or will I lose these? I have been given a different log in to use rather than my email address.
If not, is Amazon the cheapest and simplest way to update?

When it's sub vs one off I always go one off as I don't like subs.
And did that very thing with Office.1 -
I also only use word and excel (very basic stuff) and use office 2007 and have done ever since I bought it in 20071

Try Google Sheets and Google Docs. They should do everything you want and are free.1

A friend sometimes sets up spreadsheets for me and has access when I give permission to update and amend things. Can this still be done on a one off or free package?

I just last week gave away an Office 365 one years subscription to a local charity shop.I bought a new laptop from Argos, which came with both Office 365 and McAfee 12 month subscriptions as sold boxed on Argos. Both still valid but the 335 had the 'older style' box picture so obviously being cleared off their shelves in favour of the new boxes.I didn't want them so gave them to the charity shop to make a few quid on.The moral being keep your eyes open at your local charity shops, you may get lucky.PS. I use Softmaker Free Office, never had any problem with compatibility with MS Office in the 11 years that I've been using it.1

Just Use Libreoffice - it's free and you can use your existing docs and xls files as well.
Buying the one off from groupon gives you the "student" version - i.e. Word, Excel and Powerpoint for a year. You do get licences on ebay as well, but they tend to be for a year.
You can also use the "rearm" trick which gives you 30 additional days on your existing licence.1
