No income from solar panels?

My solar panels were fitted 2 years ago and the G98 was sent to my supplier and National Grid by the installation company. I had not checked my bills in detail because I have been unwell and just assumed that the solar panels were reducing my usage. Today I have found out that despite the supplier receiving the G98 on completion of the installation, the solar panels have not been registered to my account because i think i needed to also send a letter of ownership and an MCS certificate. Should i be able to backdate the earnings from the solar panels since the supplier were notified that i had them or have they just made 2 years of electricity from my house for free?!

If, however the supplier's receipt of the G98 is sufficient on its own, then I would certainly complain to the supplier.1 -
You have to apply for SEG payments from your current supplier and no they won’t be backdated. Not all suppliers support SEG payments so you may also need to switch suppliers to get the best payments.0

For both of my export companies, originally Scottish Power and now E.on, I was paid from the day I made the application, not when it first started to produce electricity. Unfortunately - this is mainly for newbies - you can't apply until you have an Mpan number so there is always some delay and some free exporting taking place (unless you don't allow it) before your chosen company will pick up the tab and start paying you. In both my cases, I had to provide a photo of the Smart meter with the export register showing the current reading. You need to apply, and do shop around. Some are really low, down to 5p/kWh. I was getting 12p/kWh with SP and now 16.50p/kWh from E.on. It might be easier to use the same electricity supplier for the export (I was originally with SP) but there is nothing to stop you using another supplier, hence, I moved to Octopus but my export stayed with SP. It was only when E.on gave me a much better deal all round that both my supply and export ended up at the same company.Look for SEG payments and usually you fill in an online form which details what evidence is required to be submitted. You'll get a separate account number.1
