Hi, is there anyone that can recommend a nice place to stay in Portugal in June. I will be going with my 2 yr old, and possibly a friend and her daughter, also 2.
Would like to be near a town and water parks if possible. Would ideally like hotel to have a childrens pool and thats about it! Oh and not hours away from the airport! Also, how easy is it to hire (and drive!) in Portugal?
Have found some nice cheap flights for beginning of June.

Get them flights booked ASAP, they might not be cheap for long!!!!!!
You will be spoilt for choice in the Algarve if Faro is your chosen airport and driving is easy, according to my hubby. The water park is not too far from Albufeira if driving, some good hotels there as well. About 30 mins drive from the airport.

www.hotelopia.co.uk has nice information and is easy to use- with a 10 % discount around somewhere. also you can do a wider search on www.travelsupermarket.com

If your into your waterparks, make sure you goto Splash and Slide, its fab :j We went in June and it was nice and quiet, hardly any queuing.
My only advice on where to stay would be to avoid the main Albufeira resort area, we only spent a day there and were glad we had chosen somewhere quieter to stay..0 -
:jExcellent choice of holiday. I recommend Alvor, along the west coast of the Algarve. Fab beaches and a good range of different types of accommodation. For excursions to Slide 'n' Splash and ZooMarine (a must for you and your children!), use the agents in the town to book your day trips and NOT the reps at the various hotels. Agents' prices cheaper than reps, with exactly the same pick-up locations.
The harbour is a great place to drift down to in the evenings, lots for you to see and enjoy.
have a great time.
remember the evenings get chilly (cool Atlantic breezes in the evening), so pack a sweater and jeans for the eves.:T

Wow, thank you for the replies and tips!
What about Portimao? Found a nice hotel, and can get myself and daughter flight & hotel (inc brekkie) for £250 for 10days!0 -
Portimao is more of a commercial town. It is within a short drive to Alvor where the nearest larger resort is.
There is a newish harbour front at Portimao with a selection of fish restaurants but I would personally stay in Alvor0
