Hi,
I would appreciate any help or guidance please. I have read the newbies forum but have no idea where to start in regards to thread numbers etc.
I have received a parking charge from zzps that backdates to April 2020. I haven’t received any correspondence in regards to this as I would’ve dealt with the issue 5 years ago. They are telling me they have taken on the debt from smart parking I cannot appeal/dispute this and my only option is to pay the £170 if I don’t they will be enforcing bailiffs or take me to court.

They have also advised I only received one letter in April 2020 to state I have a parking charge outstanding. I do not recall receiving this and have not had any letters since.
Do I have any chance of getting out of this as this is the first I am hearing about said parking charge and surely if I had received multiple letters and warnings over the last 5 years it would’ve escalated to bailiffs or county court years ago?
I appreciate any advice and help and sorry if you have stated in the newbie thread. Thankyou so much!

Your presumptions are incorrect, and no bailiffs will be involved
The legal process will start soon, meanwhile ignore the powerless debt collectors letters like from ZZPS
Post 4 in that newbies thread tells you this

If you still have the same car, is the address shown on your V5C (logbook) your current address? An old address on the V5C is most often the reason for non receipt of parking charge notices. You ignore ZZPS (and their next-desk-in-their-office CGTT Enforcement who they might next 'threaten' you with).Smart may progress to handing this over to DCB Legal to issue a court claim - they've only recently started doing this - but that can be dealt with if/when it happens. Come back on this thread if it does. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

As for the debt collectors, they probably traced you and wrote to you at your current address, no biggie, standard stuff, regardless of where not so Smart Parking sent the pcn to
