Sorry, I'm not trying to be awkward and I do appreciate the help, but that newbies thread has some huge posts on it. I currently have 11 webpages open on this and I'm not totally sure what I'm supposed to be looking at. I've got post 2 open and it started by talking about getting a letter before claim, and I figure I'm past that hence moving down the post and I started at "CCJs are different, but beatable", was that wrong? it fairly quickly talked about N244 which is why I went there.
so I think the CNBC is the Civil National Business Centre? should I be phoning them tomorrow to ask when I got formal notice and for the particulars of the claim? as I said, I've got a letter here from the solicitors, but I'm pretty sure I've not had anything else.. I would have expected something from the court service or similar? anyway, I can do that first thing.

Yes and ask which solicitors and which address the Claim was sent to.

well, I have had a spectacularly unsuccessful day on this front… I called the CNBC and found myself in position 56 in the queue.. sat on hold for more than two hours and got down to position 6 and suddenly, call failed…
I called back, waited two and a half hours and finally got to speak to someone, who then told me that without my 8 digital reference number, she can't tell me anything, and can't look me up via any other method…
I don't have an 8 digit reference code.. I don't beleive that I have had any contact from the courts.
She suggested another CNBC line to call which might be able to look me up and I sat on there for quite some time before I had to hang up. She also directed me at registry trust.. I tried calling them but by then, their office had closed. They have a website I might have a go at later, and which I beleive I'll need to pay for, unless there is an option to get the reference number without doing that?
incidentally, moorside solicitors have written to me today with a letter marked final notice before enforcement action…

The date of the CCJ (or the letter telling me about it from moorside legal) is 27th Jan 2026, so over 30 days old.
Surely Moorside have stated the Claim number somewhere?
If not, do a free credit check online. You need the Claim number.
DO NOT RING MOORSIDE.
moorside solicitors have written to me today with a letter marked final notice before enforcement action.Only there won't be any enforcement action because it's under £600. No bailiffs, nothing.

Looking at the letters from moorside, I can't find it. they do list something they call "our ref" which is an 8 digit number, but the lady at CNBC said it would be a reference with 8 letters and digits..[1]
Okay, I registered with experian and signed up for their free trial (and diarised a cancellation date in 28 days). after some digging (it's not obvious where to look) I now have a case number to give to the CNBC and a date, but no further detail about what it's for or who it's from. I have never received any documentation with this case number on at all.. I even looked through the filing cabinet earlier and there's nothing… that feels like something is broken.. surely the court system should contact me to tell me something like this?
interestingly, even with the single judgment against me, the credit score is still over 1000, which I'm led to beleive is good (this is the first time I have ever signed up to a credit ref agency).. not sure why HSBC felt the need to refuse to extend a loan for me…
I'll try to get through to CNBC tomorrow and see what they can tell me…
thanks
[1] now I have the case number, looking back at the two moorside letters I have, neither of them list this case number anywhere, not even in the tiny text..

You need:
- to know which address the claim went to, and
- to ask CNBC to email you the POC.
You do know to ring at 8.30am on the dot, yes? Same in every case. Avoid the queue.

Right, more success this time and I spoke to someone at CNBC and gave them the case details. They confirmed that it's NCP and Moorside solicitors. They said that the court service sent me a letter on the 10th December 2025 which I have not seen at all, and which seems to be before I got any letters from moorside. They said that they sent it to my current address ()I've not moved house in 15 years).
They have also emailed me the particulars of the claim. should I put that here?

If they have sent you the POC, show us (all personal details redacted) and include the issue date because it looks to me if that was a claim they are talking about on 10th December 2025, it is too late to defend a claim.

Here's the POC. I've redacted personal details and put in some line breaks to make it a little easier to read.
Claim No: XXXXXXXX
Claimant: NATIONAL CAR PARKS LIMITED
Claimant solicitor: MOORSIDE LEGAL SERVICES LTD (7561)
Telephone: 0330 828 5850
Reference: 40076898
Judgment amount: 281.80
Particulars of claim:
1. THE DEFENDANT(D) IS INDEBTED TO THE CLAIMANT(C) FOR A PARKING CHARGE ISSUED TO VEHICLE XX00XXX.
2. THE CHARGE WAS ISSUED ON 26/04/2025 ON LAND MANAGED BY C.
3. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN BREACH OF THE TERMS ON C'S SIGNS (THE CONTRACT), THUS INCURRING THE CHARGE.
4. THE DRIVER AGREED TO PAY WITHIN 28DAYS BUT DID NOT. D IS LIABLE AS THE DRIVER OR KEEPER. DESPITE REQUESTS, THE CHARGE REMAINS UNPAID AND HAS ESCALATED.
AND THE CLAIMANT CLAIMS
1. £170.00 BEING THE TOTAL OFTHE PCN.
2. COSTS AND COURT FEES. THE CLAIMANT CLAIMS INTEREST UNDER SECTION 69OF THE COUNTY COURTS ACT 1984 AT THE RATE OF 8% A YEAR FROM 23/05/2025 TO 09/12/2025 ON £170.00 AND ALSO INTEREST AT THE SAME RATE UP TO THE DATE OF JUDGMENT OR EARLIER PAYMENT AT A DAILY RATE OF £0.02.
One of my concerns is that I've not received any communications from the court on this. I would expect that a court would have written to me and they say that have but I've not had anything from them. Does that not give me anything to work with?

It will be your reason to apply to set aside the CCJ. You are required by the court to 'act promptly' when making an application, so this week/end.
Look at other CCJ set aside threads such as by @Lia_F and @Brightonrock123
