EDF late collection of last bill
We move our energy supplier from EDF Energy in 2021. They told us what our last bill was but never took it through direct debit as they had done every month. Earlier this year they demanded payment which was paid under duress. Does this still count under the 12 month back billing rules as they had the opportunity to take a payment (we never cancelled the direct debit)? Thank you

No, it does not, they had billed you, just not collected the funds. It would only count as back billing if they had not billed you.K8surrey said:We move our energy supplier from EDF Energy in 2021. Why didn't you just pay it at the time?0

If they have sent you the bill, then the back billing rule doesn't apply. The Limitations Act gives them 6 years to claim teh money. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
