New application for JSA, will I be eligible for any cost of living payment?

Hi all, I'll be applying for JSA sometime over the next few days, can anyone say if I'll be eligible for a cost of living payment, if I've understood correctly, one is due around now.

As new-style JSA is contributions-based then claimants weren't entitled to any cost of living payments unless they also claimed a qualifying income-related (means-tested) benefit.

But the Cost of Living payments ceased either last year or 2023, I can't remember.  There are currently no plans for more.

There are fake sites online that produce results about cost of living payments. As above these ended in 2023.

If someone applying for New Style JSA is struggling, once application is accepted, they can phone JSA to apply for budgeting advance, but this is repayable as a deduction against benefit payments. And if any amount is still outstanding when a claim is closed, DWP will chase for amount owed.

Also local councils may have local support options if someone was really struggling.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

For some reason there have been a lot of these sites coming in google feed on my phone, non appear to be UK sites.
Thought it was strange, given governments stance on handouts & not been around for the last couple of years.

I suspect I had these in my feed which prompted the question

Are you simply applying for nJSA (which is not means tested), or will you be applying for UC (which is means-tested and "includes" any JSA element).

    Just JSA.

As others have mentioned there are no CoL payments currently scheduled.
Even if there were, nJSA alone would not make an individual eligible for CoL.  Only means-tested payments.
