Hello Everyone.
I need some technical help.
I wanted to work out unit price to help me shop around.
I am on value tarrif - London region
On my current April Bill
Elec
Unit - 26.025 - VAT exclusive
Standing - 48.506 - VAT inclusive
Paid £13.86 VAT Exclusive
Gas
Unit - 6.591 VAT Exclusive
Standing - 32.333 - VAT Inclusive
Paid £9.24 VAT Exclusive
Getting a quote on there website for value VAT inclusive
Electric
Unit - 27.326
Standing 48.506
Gas
Unit 6.921
Standing 32.333
Then this part is where I need help.
If I look at there traiff information label
It says under page one of Direct Debit Value zone 12 London. (Link at the bottom on this post)
Electric
Unit - 25.218
Standing - 43.864
Gas
Unit - 6.735
Standing - 31.256
My questions are
- I don't think I am getting staff discount as the price I pay is the same when I do a quote for a few different houses on my road. I should get 10% of the unit price. could someone help me working out the maths
I think I should paying after staff discount at 10%
Elec - 23.36373 VAT exclusive
Gas - 5.917455 VAT exclusive
- is VAT included on the traffic information label and if yes, why are these prices different from the quote?
- what should be my Standing charges for April? could you please tell me VAT Exclusive please so I can compare that to what it shows on my bill.
- do I get charged twice for the 31st March? Or is that only for working out my unit usage?
My bills show
31 March to 30 April - May Bill
28 Feb to 31 March - April Bill
Looking forward to the replies.

I don't know how staff discounts work on UW bills - I presume you are an employee of UW - but I would expect the tariffs quoted in the main body of the bill would be the published rates that everyone pays in that region.
Isn't the discount shown as a separate entry alongside/before/after the VAT exclusive rates ?
Are you trying to compare UW with your staff discount with another supplier ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Hey Robin9I wanted to work out is it cheaper to stay with staff discount or jump ship and move to another supplier.0

Could you post a copy of an existing bill - redacting all personal info - showing the breakdown of charges pleaseNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Hey Robin9Please see the 3 pictures.0

I can't see any reference to a 10% discountNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

On our company internal site says it should be 10% of the unit price.0

But why don't you simply put your consumptions through a website. That will give you a long list of choices inc your UW - if the best is more than 10% of the UW then the UW inc 10% is the bestNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Hi Robin9.I did that, they worked out better in some cases. For example unit rate might a little cheaper but the other company may have a slightly higher Standing charge. Or one company I had to buy Boiler cover to make it cheaper.I don't think I may get my answers,I will try a different way, even ask the company directly. If the company is not giving Staff Discount. Just think how many staff could be affected.1

Hi everyone one.I got my answers. It transpires I live in region 10 Eastern. Not London Region, even though I have a London Postcode.I do get 10% discount.I only pay daily Standing charge of the numbers of days in the billing month.Reading the small price is vital to work out if VAT included or not. Sometimes no small print at all.I hope someone learns something from this. I shall now go compare. Thanks @robin92
