Booked holiday with LoveHolidays a fortnight ago but can't go and have to cancel

A potentially expensive lesson to confirm she can get the time off work before booking a holiday. Most places have a limit on the number of people who can be off at one time, so it would seem the quota had already been reached. I once worked with somebody who booked and then told their manager the dates they would be going on holiday and that manager was terrified of any form of confrontation so the staff member got away with it. A new manager came in, they tried the same game and lost. The manager refused their holiday. Staff member went screaming to HR and got nowhere.1

Can't help in situations like this. Had these girls booked with anyone like TUI or a proper company, they would have likely been asked to pay the full balance straight away and this sorry affair may never have happened.2 -
Booking a holiday without agreed leave of abscence is entirely presumptuous - and invites refusal.1

Indeed. But being made to pay the full balance right from the off at time of booking may have made them think "oh, shall we check we can get the time off first?"p00hsticks said:
