Hi all
Think I missed some days - just been super busy.Just packed DM and DD off to N Yorkshire for 10 days - their first holiday for several years as DM is wary about being away and mixing with people cos of her cancer diagnosis, and DD hasn’t been able to drive that far for years but hopefully ok with his new knee! Must admit I’m anxious about it but sure they’ll be fine.Thunderstorms forecast here though no sign yet - I’m spring cleaning ( a bit late) so moving furniture and under beds etc. have just made some butter bean dip which tastes lovely.Best wishes to all for a good weekend

Hi everyone,
I've been awake since five, apart from a brief retreat back into sleep from which I was woken by SiL ringing. I've warned Steve that I will be very grumpy today!
We've had a couple of bits of bad news this week. Brian's dad has been told he has a melanoma (he was referred 17 months ago but has only just been seen which is awful) but is still waiting for a date to have it and some lymph nodes removed. We also heard that a much loved relative of Steve's has been told she has liver cancer. She is in her 80's and has been told she wouldn't survive treatment. We spoke to her yesterday when she rang to thank us for the flowers we sent and she was her usual upbeat self.
Laura has gone to a conference today, I thought it was in London but it's in MK so only 30 minutes away, she'll be there again tomorrow so Brian is having to step up to the mark, no doubt he'll be moaning about not having any "me" time over the weekend, most men just don't get it!
I hope you enjoy the do TA, I find the anticipation is usually worse than the event.
Scarlet, I'm glad your DH is feeling better.
Gers, I hope things went well.
Dp1, have a good weekend away.9 -
Morning all, thanks for starting us off today @Scarlet. Today's forecast here is for light rain with a moderate breeze, same again tomorrow. Temperatures in the mid-teens, a bit lower than the average for this time of year.
I had a reasonable sleep last night but was up at 2 am for a loo break. I always look out of the window when this happens and saw Mr Fox doing his rounds. I'm sure he had something in his mouth but what, I couldn't tell - it was dark and he was too far away.
The carpet cleaner filters I ordered have arrived so the carpet cleaning can resume - just need the weather to turn a bit warmer (and drier) to have the windows wide open for a through breeze to help with the drying. It's a bit too chilly and damp for that just yet - Wednesday looks promising. I've taken some minced beef out of the freezer and will cook most of that today for cottage pies but I'll pinch a bit for tonight to go in some curry sauce (also from the freezer) with a microwave pouch of Caribbean rice & peas that needs using up. A bit of a thrown together meal but quick, easy and tasty enough.Once that's in the SC I'll get on with sewing the new cushion covers. The curtains that were up in the living room have been washed and need ironing before I put them away but that can wait for now.
@Scarlet - Glad to hear your DH is less tired nowadays and that he feels well enough to tackle the grouting.
@TA - I really hope you can enjoy SIL's birthday party today. I never look forward to these things either and find the pre-event effort is worse than the event itself.
That's about it for now, nothing special or exciting on the cards but there's enough to keep me busy. I hope the rain doesn't spoil anyone's plans for the weekend, enjoy and relax. Take care, hugs if needed. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
