Don’t forget to get a UPS/battery backup. Unlike the old fashioned telephones, no mains = no phone service.
    I've got one of these:
Seems to work well for short outages (most recently when I turned the power off for a bit of DIY).
I was in Spain during the recent countrywide mains outage that lasted around 12 hours, it was quite scary as the mobile networks all failed as soon as the mains went off
Which part of Spain? I was in Barcelona and the mobile networks stayed up pretty well, although they became heavily loaded and data rates plummeted. SMS still got through - my main source of info on the outage was a family member back in the British Isles!
My hotel's broadband/WiFi was solid too (the hotel was a budget brand from an international chain).
I was glad I had a power bank, though, as I was making more use of my phone than I normally would.

I was on the Costa Blanca, Torrevieja, and no mobile signal on any of our phones. Here in the UK we ditched Three as the local site went off with the slightest glitch in the mains. EE and O2 have been OK, but how long they can run for without mains is unknown.

Usually EE (formerly BT) will just replace the wire and socket. The rest of your setup is your responsibility.

If you want to replace the extra socket - there is usually a charge.
