Informing UC and keeping a record

HI,
Hopefully not a stupid question.
Numerous threads here advise to send a letter to DWP for a record of having let them know important details.
UC advise to use the claimant's online 'Journal' and take/ save screen captures of entries. The journal entry shows date and time and name of updater / claimant.
If claimant is ill and unable to get to post office, and a DWP email address is a state secret, wouldn't the UC method of screen capture record keeping be enough evidence if captures are backed up?
Not asking for self to be clear.

A journal entry I feel is the best way as leaves the best paper trail. I would put it above writing a letter and much better than the phone.

For UC a journal message is always* going to be the most direct method of contact.
(*except maybe in some very niche edge cases, but in those instances if a phone call is necessary I'd leave a message in the journal documenting the date/time/contents of the conversation anyway).1 -
I would send it via the Journal and screenshoot it. Sending a letter takes time and has to be scanned onto the UC system. Possibly takes a week to get to where it is meant to go. A journal message is posted instanteneously.1
