Faulty/Dangerous Chair

Hi!
I purchased an office/gaming chair to use for work in April last year. Other than a loose backrest, it's been good so far. However, the other day I felt something jabbing me and it was pointed out that my finger was bleeding. I found that a pretty sharp piece of metal (possibly broken spring?) was sticking out of the seat cushion, about an inch. I work with kids so it's dangerous enough to use for myself but to have around them would be worse.
The chair has a 2 year warranty and the company are happy to honour that. However, they only want to send me a new cushion. I understand this make sense because it's the cushion that developed the fault but the new cushion would be the same construction. I would be accepting this knowing there's the potential risk of this happening again. Having researched other products from the same brand, there have been a few similar incidents.
I would much prefer a return/refund, as I wouldn't feel safe using this product for it's intended purpose/environment.
It's not that they aren't honouring the warranty, but is it unreasonable of me to expect more than a replacement cushion given the safety issue?

Regardless of anything else, you can’t expect a full refund when you’ve had 12 months worth of use out of it already. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
If you want to pursue a warranty claim, then your rights are defined by the terms of the warranty. What do those terms say about replacement/repair/refund?
If you want to pursue your statutory consumer rights then you need to do that against the retailer. Did you buy direct form the manufacturer or somebody else?0 -
I'd take the replacement cushion. You're not entitled to a new replacement or full refund from the retailer, and you're only entitled to whatever the warranty offers from the manufacturer.
You might be able to get a partial refund from the retailer, but it will likely take time and some up-front cost to obtain it.0 -

Your consumer rights are with the seller.
Who is the seller? (Look on your Amazon invoice, the seller's details are on the RHS).0 -
Any item can develop a fault so it's impossible to say that a replacement seat won't do the same thing. It would however seem unlikely. Accept the replacement seat.0

I presume they’re working from home, and bought it from their own personal account, so the retailer isn’t going to know any different.
