Ok so been here just over a year, at first they set my bills at £83 a month and me being me and being housebound at the time didn't check my meter as it was downstairs I couldn't use stairs and didn't have carers and just left it.

About 2 months ago decided to do something about it as it seemed too high for someone who has gas heating and it said I was £442 in credit and I gave meter readings and it said I was £442 in credit and could get a refund and lower my DD to £41 a month.

Decided to do this and a few weeks later had a meter reader at my door saying they were told to check my meter as the amounts were different than the estimate.

Didn't check until today and thought I would ask for a refund as I am a low user, found out last month they billed me £275 extra and have upped my direct debit to £121 a month!

To clarify my usage, live alone run a desktop pc, WFH 1-2 days a week and use a laptop for that, shower about 4 times a week, use washing machine once a week on a eco setting and sometimes a freshen up setting but not every week.

Heating is gas.

Theres no way I have been using more than £20 a week i'd say more like £15 max not over £120 a month, yes it's bad to compare but know people in houses that pay far less than me and thats including heating, I never have heating on as live in an upstairs flat and my neighbours set thermostat to 24 degrees so even in Febuary my flat is at least 20 degrees even at bedtime in fact I have to open up a window.

Gas check was recent and that is fine, electrical test last year that was fine.

EDIT - I also didn't get meter readings when I moved in, EDIT 2, Actually I think I did but they may of mistyped them in as the person who took the call was struggling to understand me and I understand him.

You've been there over a year so it is rather late to start questioning the opening read used by your supplier.  I pay considerably more than you in a two bed flat - and like you I hardly ever need to use heating.
If you're not happy with your supplier's service or price then I suggest you switch.

It's not that I rarely need to use heating but I have a different provider for the heating so there should be £0 amount for that.

It's more by actual usage, I don't use much so it seemed so high especially knowing many other people who have larger properties higher usage but pay less added with how £121 a month is seen as acceptable.

I have a 4 bedroom detached house with oil heating and electricity is a lot less than what you are being billed but we need to know are you providing readings monthly, are your bills being prepared using those readings, what sort of meter do you have?  What is heating your water?  We used our immersion for a few weeks and wow, the electric bills went sky high.
