Refused house insurance

recently was left a house, me and my friend have just moved in, when applying for home insurance I was refused as I put my friend down as a lodger and she is currently in IVA, has anyone had anything similar? I don’t know who else to look at. I just thought because it was my house etc it wouldn’t affect it. I’m UK based, not sure what to do next.

Having someone with serious debt problems covered by the Home insurance is going to make it more fun to try and get cover. Looking on Confused.com with a non-family resident with an IVA from 12 months ago I get 12 different insurers quoting, with high prices but they are quoting.
