Insurance Company Cancel Policy and Want Fee My Credit Card Company Claimed Back
Looking for some advice please.
I paid for a year’s motorcycle insurance with a company called Wicked quotes (WQ). Shortly after they called me, they asked for all the supporting documentation, and I sent it to them. There was a mistake on the NCB with a year less NCB than I had informed them I had (I was unaware of this; it had been sent to me after I’d got the quote and paid for the new insurance). They said because of this they wanted an extra £50 paid within 7 days and the updated NCB or they would cancel the insurance and charge me another £50. I explained it was not my mistake, and I would go back to the previous insurance company and get them to correct it however I couldn’t guarantee I could resolve it in 7 days. They said they would cancel the insurance and charge me £50 at 7 days if I did not fulfil their demands. I told them if they were going to act so unreasonable and aggressive they could cancel the insurance, and I would put the payment into dispute with my credit card company (CC). WQ cancelled the insurance 7 days after the phone conversation.
I bought new insurance the same day as the phone conversation with WQ with a different company as I couldn’t run the risk of WQ not honouring the insurance and put they payment into dispute with my CC. The CC got my money back after I explained the situation and showed them the updated NCB with the correct number of years which took me over 7 days to obtain, however I have now received a letter dated 3.06.25 from WQ demanding the full year payment for just 12 days insurance and if I don’t pay it by 26.03.25 (?) they will pass it over to a debt collector with an additional fee of £50.
Does anyone know if there is anything else I can do to try to challenge WQ without it becoming an expensive gamble? ThanksComments

Well they can send it to a debt collector - but they can doing nothing unless they take you to court when you can defend and in all probability they will lose.
More concerning is if you have a credit agreement with them and that then appears on your credit record..1 -
Presumably your money was returned by chargeback, which reclaims the money back from the WQ.This has resulted in the policy no longer being cancelled , hence they are claiming payment for it.1

The correct approach was to register a complaint with them and challenge the fee that way rather than a chargeback, you could have gone to the Ombudsman had you not liked their response.1 -

On a slightly different note does this leave OP having to declare a cancelled policy going forward?1
