Hi All, update, Mediation Service Appointment attended yesterday afternoon, was presented with a most generous “offer" of £200 from the claimant…I obviously declined and advised i’m not prepared to make a counter-offer and if anything would be seeking to claim costs from them.

The mediator subsequently advised they are going to proceed to a hearing, which I expect within the next 6-9 months.

Wow, this is a long game!

Hi Team, received a January hearing date today from the courts. Rather coincidentally I also received an email offering a settlement figure of £100 from DCB Legal.

Regarding the “offer”, could this be taken as an indication that things will likely discontinue before the hearing or is it just a common formality of the process?

Thanks @Coupon-mad. Do I need to start thinking about preparing my witness statement, just in case?

On your Notice of Allocation did they give a date for submission of "all those documents upon which you intend to rely" or was it 14 days before the hearing date?  Do you know the date by which DCB Legal have to pay the hearing fee.  Look at those two dates and see if you have time to wait before submitting your WS and hopefully in the meantime receive a N279 discontinuance from them.  Won't hurt to have a WS partially prepared whilst it is fresh in your mind - just in case.

Thanks @Le_Kirk. The Notice of Allocation doesn’t specify a date for evidence, it just includes the standard “no later than fourteen days before the hearing” clause.

It seems I’d have the festive period to compile my defence if they didn’t discontinue.

I take your point, it wouldn’t hurt to make a start on things as a head-start.
