Okay the situation is my mum put in a claim for esa in February with the sick note required and that was for 2 months. She sent in another sick note exactly the same but with new dates in April. Both sick notes say it's for bereavement when she's actually claiming for anxiety as a result of the traumatic death.
She had her work assessment meeting last week and had a text to say they would get back to her with a decision and to wait to hear but her money was stopped on Monday.
She called them up today and they have said it's been stopped because the sick note says bereavement on it and not anxiety even though they've been paying her since she sent the sick note in February and again in April. So that's 6 wks since the last sick note started and at no point has anyone told her there's anything wrong with the sick note. They just kept sending generic letters saying we have not had your sick note and to ignore the letter if you have sent it and she kept sending the same sick note again just to be safe.

She is going to get an amended sick note from the GP backdated to the last one she sent. And my question is once she sends this in, will her esa claim continue? Will the suspension be lifted?
She's been going through this process for 3 1/2 months and doesn't want to start again.

The term suspended is until further information is submitted, i.e., a backdated fit note.  Once that's sorted everything should continue if they used terminated or closed then it can be appealed.

Tell your mum to keep all information and get Free proof of postage if she's sending in documents.

Thank you. That's reassuring. Hopefully the decision is made soon and whatever the outcome is, it will be good that she can stop having to deal with them 🙏
