NS&I Direct Saver: delays to payments out. May be affecting other NS&I accounts

Just off the phone with NS&I after a long wait. I made a payment to my current account on Monday from my Direct Saver and it has yet to arrive (supposed to arrive the next day and always has in the past.)
Man I spoke to said they are having problems with their clearing bank, Nat West, and payments are being delayed. It may arrive by 2pm today, or it could be tomorrow. He was very vague about the details.
I pointed out that it was very bad form of NS&I not to inform customers they are having problems. There is nothing on their website and I haven't found anything on their social media. Wasted half an hour of my life on the phone for an issue they could have communicated to save me the trouble.

Likewise, called thinking the fraud team were holding the payment. Got told there were delays.Mine (also from Mon) has just come through in the last half hour.0

Well that’s settled me on not moving any money today. It’s particularly bad as I’m sure they stop paying interest when it comes out of your account regardless of how long it takes to get to destination. I’d never attempt to withdraw from them on a Friday either for that reason.1
