Dear all...... my father is 94 (and deaf) and cannot use a computer therefore he cannot access his gas/electricity bills online. How can I contact British Gas in order for them to send him a paper energy bill statement? I have tried telephoning them, but they insist on speaking to him. He is deaf and cannot communicate on the telephone. I just want them to send him a statement through the post ! Why is this so difficult? Is there a contact email number for them?

Have you got access to his online account ?
You can set up paper statements from there ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
You could try the online contact form
Help & Support - British Gas1 -
Is he on the Priority Services Register?1

Thank you ...... no he does not have an online account or on the priority register? I will try the help and support link. Surely British Gas must have elderly customers that cannot use "online" they must be able to send him a paper statement? They take money from his bank account (direct debit)1

Have you thought about writing a letter to make the request and you father signs it, also, state your father is being discriminated because of xyz. I am sure you will get a prompt response. As I had done this for my neighbour.

Hi,
If someone wants statements in paper form and cannot use alternative means of communication then I don't it at all unreasonable for that request to be made in wiring. I don't think that is particularly discriminatory.
If your father is unable to communicate in any electronic form (you say telephones and conputers are both not options) then writing seems to be the only option left. (Unfortunately you are several decades out of date for a personal visit to a gas showroom).
Have you got a LPA in place? It sounds like your father has reached a point where he is unable / unwilling to manage these things himself.

definitely consider LPA - it won't just be the gas / elec he might help with1

At present you have no idea whether or not he has a big credit or big deficit (unless it's a Monthly Variable Direct Debit Account)
BG may not speak to you - you are not the account holder. You may need your dad by your sideNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Thank you all for your comments. I have set up an LPA and have written to British Gas.0

It's certainly possible to get paper bills. I get them all the time from British Gas for a meter that isn't mine.1
