The letters contained advice on how to access my money but as I had only around £20 in each and was very irritated by the whole thing, I never bothered to follow it up and claim my funds.
There will be a block on the account and since you never claimed your funds with the instructions and letter you received in a branch the block won't be lifted. If they ask, maybe say you were shocked, felt distress and ultimately forgot but now found the paperwork during a clear out want to set records straight in case you are asked why it took you 5 years to claim.

I suggest that you take the paperwork to a branch and claim your £20 from each it will trigger some sort of activity in the background setting the record straight and maybe in the future you are allowed back. Perhaps it even removes the block to online banking if you're lucky.

That they gave 2 months notice indicates it was a commercial decision rather than suspected money laundering, fraud or any other dubious activity, which would have resulted in immediate closure. Take ID with you.

It might also be worth checking Synectics Solutions as LBG placed a refer marker on me back in 2021 which I've since discovered is the reason I struggled to open even basic bank accounts with other banks.

Might not apply to you in your case but I also had the 60 day closure letters back in 2019 and like you they provisionally accepted me for a basic account at the beginning of last year before revoking it once the card had been sent and closed the account immediately.

There won't be particularly large numbers who are kicked out of LBG in the first place.

Of those, the number who'd try to return would be significantly smaller.

Of those, the number who'd succeed will be even smaller still!
Of those, very few will report in this thread.
