Hi I purchased a used car on 10th of May , I picked the car up on the 15th of May , did around 30 miles in 4 days and it got stock in gear , garage picked up on the 19th May and said would be a few days we are now on 3rd of June and I still have no car , they have told the finance company it’s gearbox and drive shaft have failed. They now won’t answer my calls , I have no car and they have since removed all listings on Autotrader and there website . I have told the finance company to reject the vehicle they have a recorded call from the mechanic saying what the issue is but the dealer is saying they don’t know if they can accept a rejection ( less than 30 days) . Also have my belongings in the car . I am at a loss now as finance company say I have to keep paying until they receive a refund . Citizens advice just said reject and passed info to trading standards . I’m at a loss to what more I can do ?

The dealer must accept your rejection within 30 days; it's not something they have a choice over, especially with such a serious fault.

You need to write rejecting the car. If you have home insurance, check to see if you have legal expenses cover as part of the policy. Call the Legal Helpline provided by your insurer before you do so. They might write the letter for you.

Once you have sent the letter, try to find your car so that you can retrieve your property from it.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Was it purchased in person or remotely?

Get yourself down there with the spare key and retrieve your belongings, if they still have it on their premises and ask them what is going on.

I found it listed on Autotrader but drive 90 minutes away to see it. There is only one key and it’s with the mechanic in Stockport , I did wonder if I could report it stolen seems as though they won’t answer my calls and have my dash cam etc inside the vehicle . I don’t even know if the vehicle is drivable they told the finance company today at the latest for it to be fixed but have told me two more days for two weeks , they’ve now said Friday but I said no I want to reject it

Did you purchase at their premises?

If they won't answer your calls how do you know "they've now said Friday"

Please get the story straight with a consistent timeline.
