My sister has been driving 40 years and won't turn right!

She will go all the way around a roundabout or turn left, left and left again, but won't turn right across traffic coming the other way.
I had an elderly neighbour did this too, we lived on the tightly terraced streets of Liverpool, he wouldn't turn right no matter what. He must've had some peculiar journeys
I used to work with somebody like that.

The office moved to the next town, just over five miles - and she resigned because she "couldn't" drive there. She was in tears over it, because she loved the job, and she was actually considering a constructive dismissal claim at one point...
I'm not sure I would have had the patience to react to that.

A former employer was crazy strict on H&S, for part of their business it was understandable as it was a highly hazardous environment but they applies the same level across all the business such that a host of things were considered misconduct:
    • walking and talking on a mobile
    • using the stairs without holding the handrail
    • carrying more than 1 drink without a cupholder
    • Parking your vehicle such that you had to reverse out the space
There were a number of people that used to turn up extra early for their shifts to give them time to find a through parking space because they couldn't reverse into a space.

What does she do if she comes to a crossroads with a No Left Turn sign as it is a one way street going from left to right, and a No Entry sign ahead with traffic coming from there going straight on across her path?

Reverse all the way home I presume.  :D
cross over and drive until she can keep turn left and left to get back to the road that goes straight across the crossroads.
There is a No Entry sign straight ahead. The only legal move is to turn right.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

The not reversing out of spaces is interesting because it reduces accidents when exiting spaces to almost zero and has no impact on accidents when entering spaces. It also aligns with the Highway Code where one should reverse park onto a driveway so as not to need to reverse onto a road, particularly an A road.

The other three rules sound quite petty though, even for a high risk environment.

I'm 55, and have never driven on the M25. I've spent far more hours than I care to count on the northern part of the M6. I also drive pretty regularly on the M62, the M55, the M56, the M61, the M58... You can probably guess roughly where I live. But I don't often go anywhere near the M25?

However, my mum is down the M5, so that's also on my routes, but again, not anywhere near London.

I'm not sure I have a huge desire to drive on the M25... just saying!

P.S. I'm curious as to why the original question was asked? It's a slightly odd question for those of us who are northerners... do I detect a south western bias?

I live in Somerset, but did drive on the M25 once. It wasn't the least bit stressful because I never got above 20 mph.

The kids having grown up in rural Spain, the first time we all flew into Luton and we hit the M25 they asked “Daddy, why are all the cars in a line?”

    5 and 8 and they’d never seen a traffic jam before 😂
